Wednesday Flash Therapy: Some (Very) Short Wishes for Your Flash

FlashFiction.Net is one-year old. One of those ubiquitous summer songs is stuck in my head as part of the celebratory vibe:

Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now
Wish right now, wish right now
Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now
Wish right now, Wish right now

Of course, FlashFiction.Net used its stored up wishes for you, because that’s the kind of generous spirit that flows from this site. Not all of them can be revealed, for fear that none will come true, but here’s a sampling:

      • May your titles create interest, subtext, mystery, and meaning.
      • May your first lines be subversive and immersive.
      • May your dialogue force characters to go deeper.
      • May each word be what Quick Fiction’s Jen Pieroni calls “a smart surprise.”
      • May your endings be both a door and a window.
      • May your flashes be as brilliant as you dreamed they might be.
      • And may they, and their writers, all find the perfect homes.
